Privacy notice

What information we use, why, and how to tell us to stop. Last updated October 2026.

Who we are

Pillow Not Required is operated by a UK sole trader, 22 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4HT. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

Contact us about anything in this notice at hello@pillownotrequired.com.

What information we use

  • Business contact details that a business publishes on its own website or business listings, such as a business name, address, phone number, and a business email address. Where that includes a person’s name or work email, it counts as personal data.
  • Companies House records, such as company names, registered addresses and the names of directors.
  • Information clients give us, such as contact names, email addresses, login access you choose to share for your listings, and billing details.
  • Our emails with you, including replies and any request to stop contacting you.

We don’t use cookies, analytics or tracking on this website. The site loads a typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To contact businesses about a relevant service. We email businesses to offer a free report on how AI assistants describe their area. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: telling businesses about a service that relates directly to how they find customers. We keep these emails short, send them to business addresses, and make it easy to say no. We also follow the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
  • To provide our service to clients. Our lawful basis is contract: we need the information to do the work you’ve asked for and to bill you.
  • To keep records we must keep by law, such as accounts and invoices. Our lawful basis is legal obligation.

Your right to object

You can tell us to stop at any time, and we will. Reply “no thanks” to any email from us, or email hello@pillownotrequired.com. Your right to object to marketing is absolute: we don’t need a reason and we won’t argue.

When you object, we stop emailing you and keep a short suppression record (your email address, business name and the date you asked) so that we never contact you again by mistake.

How long we keep it

  • Prospective clients who don’t reply: up to 12 months after our last email, then deleted.
  • Suppression records: for as long as we send emails, because their job is to stop us contacting you.
  • Clients: for as long as we work together, then 6 years after the end of the contract for accounting and legal purposes.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell personal data. We use a small number of service providers (processors) who handle data on our instructions:

  • our email provider, to send and receive email
  • Stripe, to take payments from clients
  • our website host, to serve this website

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your other rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your data
  • limit how we use it
  • send data you gave us as a client to you or another provider

Email hello@pillownotrequired.com. We’ll reply within one month. It’s free.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
